In Ukunda, there is a school project called “Mekaela Academies”. It is comprised of a total of five schools that the German emigrant Stefan Wentzel with his wife Micki have planned, supervised, supported and ensured that many children and young people get an affordable education.
Reiner Meutsch from www-fly-and-help.de trusts this project and wants to create a preschool for the youngest children. I found this project so exciting that we have chosen to design and build the preschool as well as give it 100% support.
I was at the Cultural Day and presented the project to over 1000 children, parents and teachers. Our school will be called “Christoph Schwab & Friends“.
The project in Ukunda provides a complete new building for the preschool – 60 children will be taught there and have the opportunity to use the outdoor sports facilities.
The parents are partly-skilled craftsmen and will also benefit from the project because they are directly involved in the work (tables, chairs, building walls and electrical cabling).
The small, visible building will be demolished, the former paddling pool removed, with the trees completely remaining. The school will practically be integrated into the landscape.
Construction begin will be in November 2017. The inauguration will take place in February/ March 2018.
